They have a Yelp check-in offer for a free 4oz beer sample, so be sure to get that! A fairly massive group went here between the ceremony and reception for the wedding we were all in town for. This is where the bride and groom met, I believe, so they had $1 off tap pours for wedding guests. I enjoyed my beer sample, something honey, in the tiniest, cutest little beer stein. The staff was friendly and dealt with our large group very well. It was easier once we all moved to the downstairs area, instead of taking up the whole of the bar area. The cheese curds were great (as if cheese curds could ever be anything less than amazing). And I greatly enjoyed the River Water cocktail (much tastier than the name sounds, I promise!).

Good beer, but have never been impressed by the food. Would chose other WB restaurants over this any day. Staff very friendly. If it is nice out ask to sit on the back porch that looks over the river, very peaceful!

It was 11:30, wanted bloody's and appetizers. It wasn't busy so we got a great booth! Comfy corner with great service. Appetizers were ok, nothing great and hardly made in house; it was decent at the very best. Still enjoyed my time here with my family. Nice restaurant, nice atmosphere , nice service, mediocre food!

Good food. Awesome beer. Sloppy service.

If you're looking for the best fish fry in West Bend, this is it. Riverside Brewery has good beer, great food and a great atmosphere (usually). As they are a brew pub, their beer is better than most restaurants that you will go to in West Bend. Their stouts and porters are pretty good, as is their raspberry wheat beer. Their honey ale is just okay - same with some of their other brews. Overall, I really like their beer, but wish they would swap out their selection more often (lately it seems to be the same beer all of the time). Again, the food at Riverside is great. Their fish fry, which is available on both Wednesdays and Fridays, is the best that I have had in West Bend. You will be satisfied with any of the panini sandwiches - especially the tuscan chicken or the portobello. Their reuben sandwich is better than the reuben at the Irish restaurant up the street (Dublin's), and their buffalo chicken wrap is nice and hot. Their waitstaff is pretty good. For some reason they always seem a bit depressed, but they are quick and helpful. The atmosphere is a bit like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. Upstairs is crapped, dark and not very pleasant. Downstairs is pretty open, has a view of the river and is quite pleasant. I always ask for a table downstairs when I go, and they are usually able to accommodate me. If you have to wait, do your best to get comfortable. The waiting area is the worst. You either have to stand single-file down the hallway to the restroom, or cramp in around the stairs by the bar. If they ever remodel, the waiting area should be the first thing they address. I bring clients and employees to Riverside for meetings all the time. The food and drinks are consistent and it rarely disappoints. Ratings breakdown: Beer - 4 Food - 4 Service - 3 Atmosphere - 3 (2 upstairs, 4 downstairs, 1 waiting area)

A wonderful dining experience. I was part of a large group on a Saturday night. Great food & service. We sat in the downstairs dining room that lends itself to large groups. They also have patio dining overlooking the river. I look forward to dining here again when in the area.

Time for a good dinner for our last night in town. We arrived 8-ish on a Saturday and were seated right away. We got a table downstairs, and would have had a great view of the patio and river if it hadn't been dark, dreary, and rainy outside. Our server was almost awkwardly friendly- super helpful and overly concerned about checking in on us throughout the meal. We had a couple of cups of soup, the beer cheese and the daily special that was 'three piggies' or something like that-- three types of pork in a cream base, and both were fantastic. We could have stopped there if we had thought it through, but we already had entrees on the way. The prime rib was decent, the shrimp was a little boring, and the ribs were great. We also got the signature cherries jubilee for dessert (even though I'm not typically much of a cherry person), and they were very good. My bloody mary was very good, just a tiny bit over-spicy for my wimpy palette, but that's where the beer chaser comes in handy. The hubby's long island tea was pretty generic, and he ended up getting a bloody for the next round as well. I can see this as a great date night or visiting parents type of place, especially if you're seated downstairs. As we were leaving, the downstairs section was nearly empty, but upstairs seemed to be getting a little livelier with some live music and a crowded bar. We would definitely want to check out the patio on a nicer evening.

Riverside stepped it up. Sat out back on the patio and enjoyed the Sun. Order bruschetta (still some of the best I've ever had) and the Berry Pecan salad, which absolutely blew my mind. Almonds, cranberries, cherry vinaigrette, grilled chicken, and goat cheese (you need to request it over the bleu cheese), it's wonderful. That being sad, their beers just can't miss. This place knows beer...they know the hell out of it.

Descriptive phrase: friendly, small-town restaurant/bar. We stopped in at Riverside Brewery and Restaurant on the quaint Main Street in West Bend to try their beer, though their beer cheese soup was a nice snack too. The front bar had plenty of seating for us, and the back and basement was all dining room. I liked the space; nothing too fancy, but still nice and comfortable. Our bartender was extremely friendly and welcoming. We tried all of their beers in a flight, and were impressed with the quality and variety. For only brewing for their own restaurant, they do a great job. It's not just a gimmick. Riverside seems like an authentic small-town place, and it's worth a quick bite or drink while in West Bend.

This is our new favorite place to go. We have driven past it many times on our way to Casa Tequila, another favorite spot. We always eat at Riverside around 3pm at that time the restaurant is very quiet. Every server we have had has been very good and on top of things. We normally get their homemade root beer and orange cream soda, both are some of the best around. The nachos starter is also good. We have ordered many items off the sandwich and burger portion of the menu and have never been disappointed. The Salmon BLT is my favorite. Don't leave without trying their beer cheese soup! Best I've had. We are always seated in the downstairs dining which has a view of the river, you can even sit outside right by the river. There is a full bar upstairs and a smaller one downstairs. Give this place a try, you'll love it.

After spending the morning at the Washington County Fair Grounds, we needed a place for a late lunch so we headed towards town. We went on a Saturday and easily found parking right in front of the building. We walked in and were greeted by a cheery host and we asked if we could sit at the bar. There were plenty of choice seats so we got in plain view of the Badger basketball game on one of the televisions. The bartender asked if we wanted bloody marys so we ordered them. They came with a chaser of our choice and we each chose one of their craft beers. The bloodys and the beers were fantastic. My husband ordered a Cuban sandwich and I ordered a chicken sandwich. Both were excellent. The chicken was nicely seasoned and the bun was nice and soft. My husband's sandwich was one of the best he ever had. I got the homemade chips and they are really good. I love those kind of touches instead of throwing bag potato chips on the plate. The bartender was good company, nice and friendly and always available to pour that second beer. We will definitely come back here again when we're near West Bend.

I've been here a good handful of times. Each time the drinks were spot on. I've had the plank of salmon and a couple of their salads, and have enjoyed the food each time. The greeting staff is outstanding, but the interactions with the servers, actually taking the order, typically left something to be desired. All in all, worth the stop though!

I have eaten here many a time, over twenty in fact, and have only once been disappointed. The food is phenomenal, and much to my personal appreciation, widely ranged in price. Everything from the 7 dollar sandwich, to the $50 feast. This place accommodates for customers of every tax bracket. Upon this visit, I decided to order a sampler flight of their house-made brews. My favorites are as follows: 1. Lucky Irish Stout. Enough body to feel like a stout, but light enough that it doesn't sit like a meal in your stomach. 2. Muggles Fuggles ESB. Bittersweet in flavor, not in the experience. An absolute delight of a beverage. 3. Main Street Amber Ale Perfect for the one who finds they lie somewhere between dark and light, leaving no pressure to take sides. My recommendation is to stop here for lunch on your way to some of West Band's other fine downtown locations such as: The Norbert, Collin's Deck Bar, River Horse West, Brazen Head, and more. If you enjoy beer, you likely enjoy hops. If you enjoy hops, make it a bar hop!
(4)Tom D.
Great outdoor seating area. Food overall was average. The cheese soup was good and our server was friendly as well. The rest was average.
(3)Tami G.
You had me at beer. We were looking for a place to hang out and decompress that had good food and drinks. As we were driving through downtown West Bend, we came across this little gem and decided to try it out. I love visiting local breweries to sample their fare, and Riverside was no exception. They have a beer flight on their menu, which is 7 beers for a reasonable price. Well, because they have 8 on tap, I got to sample 8 glorious beers. Well, my friends helped sample some as well. So one of the beers they brew is a berry weiss. So the first time we visited, they had a blueberry weiss. But they have all sorts of flavors. The one flavor that we really wanted to try: raspberry. Imagine our surprise when we went back again and that was the flavor of weiss!!! But I digress. Their beer sampler is the way to go. You can try what you want and if you don't like one, give it to a friend. If you are looking for something to nosh on while enjoying your adult beverages, might I recommend their plethora of appetizers that are on their menu. This is the way to go. Beer and food. Friends and good times.
(4)Barbara D.
The food is great. The out door seating by the river is nice and quiet in the summer. It's a great place to eat good food and relax.

I'm in town by myself on a business trip and the Hampton Inn recommend this restaurant as I didn't want to eat at a chain. I'm from Chicago so I have hight standard for a good meal. I was completely blown away by the amazing service from start to finish. From the greeter at the door, I was a one top and having worked in restaurants felt bad taking a table, however Kathy was so nice and asked if I'd like a table. She sat me next to the river downstairs as requested. Very romantic even though I was rocking it solo. I started with a lovely glass of house red cab for only $5. First course was out in a flash, literally! I got the beer cheddar soup, holly cow this soup is amazeballs! No I mean really it was creamy and just slight touches of beer and cheese not over powering at all. Next came my main course, it was done even before I finished my soup! Super fast service. The Prime Rib I asked for medium rare and more on the pink side, and do you know what I got?! A nice think cut of pink Prime Rib, perfectly cooked. Now onto the garlic smashed potatoes because really they were a highlight for me. They were wonderful and oh so tasty. I checked in on Yelp so I got a free 4 oz berry Weiss, the raspberry was on tap, I'm not super into heavy craft beers but this was light and not too hoppie a+ in my book. I can't forget to mention my server Toni, she was so nice and always greeted me a smile, Quick and very attentive but not too much. Thanks for a great dinner!

Found on Yelp and so glad we did. Service was excellent and the food even better. Would come back again and again!!
(4)Jason W.
The Veggie Wrap. It's the new portabella version and it is delicious. Excellent garlic flavor, drippy, something I would order again in a heartbeat. The fries were overly salty. The service was very nice as is the atmosphere and scenery. I ordered avocado on my sandwich but did not get any. It happens and was removed from my bill. The beer I could not drink was not. The beer is not good. I hate saying that about any place, but this was not a good drinking experience. I ordered the APA and found it lacking in most flavors except diacetyl. Not a common flaw in American pales. My buddy had the Abbey Double and it was bland and lacking any character. My impression from the three beers we tried is that the brewmaster was brewing from a kit with little experience. That's harsh but my honest opinion.

I ended up finding this place by accident when I was on a work trip in Jackson and got lost searching for a different restaurant the hotel desk man told me about. I'm glad I got lost. The atmosphere for this place is relaxed and comfortable. I sat at the bar this evening and the bartender was friendly and just the right amount of chatty. He talked me into ordering the surf and turf, which they had an interesting take on. You could pick your surf and pick your turf as opposed to the traditional option where they tell you what you're getting. I picked the rib-eye and the salmon special for the evening. I was not disappointed. It was absolutely delicious. If I have to go back and visit again for work I will make it a point to stop here. I've also recommended to coworkers when I hear they are headed that direction.

Excellent lunch! We had fish fry which was wonderful and the potato pancakes were excellent. I had a jack Daniels prime rib sandwich. Very tasty. Our server Cassie was excellent.
(5)Trisha M.
Went there for prime rib (which I like is on the menu all the time, instead of just Saturdays ) it was great! The price was decent and even though they were very busy, the service was great! I would recommended making reservations though.
(5)Floydz T.
Sunny summer afternoon on their deck over the river drinking mainstreet amber. Enjoyed the beer and a warm turkey wrap. Good pleasant waitress. Baked French onion soup, crusty big serving, long stretchy mozzarella . Mmm mmm. Busy place,
(4)Damon S.
I have been going to Riverside brewery for a number of years. Today, was the first time we tired the brunch. It was great! The brunch menu has a nice selection of unique items. I had today's special, which was an omelet that was loaded with mushrooms, cheese, peppers, onion, ham, and bacon. It was great. It came with potato pancakes, which were also very good. I think I enjoyed the brunch food even more than their regular menu. If you go for lunch or dinner be sure to have a cup of the beer cheese soup!! It is AWEOME! I also really like their beers.
(4)Ricky J.
My wife and I went to Riverside Brewery again, and yeap I'm still giving them a 5 stars. They are just that good! Great, no amazing beer also!
(5)Shsron F.
Great time with cheeky waitress and trainee Rachael. Wednesday fish fry fantastic and hubby says the best potato pancakes he has ever had and he grew up in a German family in Germantown, Wi. The inside atmosphere could be improved to capitalize on the Milwaukee river location.
(5)Skip P.
Beers were average at best but the onion soup and portobello pannini were delicious. Nice decor and plenty of privacy with seating.

We went there for breakfast as we have been seeking a great place since moving to the area. We were excited from reviews and while the potential of this restaurant is there, we were overall left with disappointments. It was 11AM and as we entered, there was no one at the front. A bartender around the corner yelled hello and shortly thereafter, a hostess took us to a seat in the back. The entire area was quite small and would definitely be cozy for a dinner, but since the lights were not turned up for breakfast and it was almost unbearably silent, we felt that we were in some sort of seedy back room. There were only two other couples there and one left right after we arrived, so it was definitely empty. We were greeted promptly and courteously by a trainee with a trainer looming behind her. After the initial order and delivery, the trainer went and sat up front with the bartender and another while the trainee did all the work. We ordered the pulled pork benedict and eggs oscar. They came with two large potato pancakes and fruit (which was a small bowl of grapes). The benedicts were excellent in taste, but there was almost no hollandaise sauce on either and I had to ask for more which I was charged for even though there was almost none on the meal. The potato pancakes again had a great taste, but mine were a bit overdone and too hard on the edges. The grapes were grapes - they were fresh. I ordered a beer flight so I could taste their varieties. They were okay, but nothing special - there were not even descriptions of the varieties on any menu that would have enhanced the tasting. Disappointing. The bill came and no one really followed up with us during the meal. As we left another couple came in. The lack of customers for their Sunday Brunch is understandable as there did not seem to be anything remarkable to make one come in for this fare or want to return after coming in once. The food tastes wonderful, but there is a lot of need for polishing up everything else.

Pros: Best fish fry in Washington County! Free beer samples. Brewery tour. Cons: Long wait. No standing room. Crowded bar.
(4)Kelly M.
Riverside Brewery is a pretty solid dining choice. I usually go to Riverside for the fish fry, which is either Wednesdays or Fridays. Fridays have been busy lately, so Wednesday has worked better for me. Today I started with the French Onion Soup. It had a thick layer of cheese and a good sized toasted crouton-- just as it should. There was no skimping and I was pretty pleased with this choice. One of the better bowls of French Onion Soup I have had. The fried cod is usually a pretty solid choice, and it was today, too. In the past there seemed to be a difference in the breading used on Wednesdays and Fridays, but I no longer know if this is the case. I also got the potato pancakes, which are always good here. There may be room for improvement with the coleslaw, because I find traditional coleslaw kind of boring. However, West Bend is a traditional community and sprucing up the coleslaw might not go over so well. I wish I could tell you about the beer samplings or bartenders, but I have young children and that is not an option for a while. The bar looks nice, though. My children like the brewmaster's orange cream and root beer sodas. The service was good. The waitress was attentive and told us the specials. There was one issue today that needs to be mentioned. The brewmaster was working and the brewery door was open. It smelled kind of yeasty and was humid. This has never happened before, and I told my children that kind of thing happens in breweries from time to time. I didn't have a problem with this, but some might.
(4)Dani K.
Not just a bar, this place has such wonderful decor and presentation as well as service. -Wood and carpet, making it inviting and comfortable. -There's an upstairs, downstairs, and outside patio dining area. The patio is RIGHT on the river with shade, a nice breeze, and hardly any bugs for being in a foresty area. I HIGHLY recommend eating out here. -Tasty beer variety. -Excellent price for the excellent quality of the food. -The waiter was very nice and I only have positive things to say about the service here overall. --- The one negative? Parking. If you're meeting someone, give yourself at least five minutes to find a space if you aren't used to the area.
(5)Rosemary K.
Had a lovely lunch at Riverside today on the patio on the river. The food was good, the view was fabulous. Our waitress was attentive and friendly. Two of us ordered the vegetarian wrap without the sauce and it was very good and would order them again. I will return to Riverside when I am in town again.
(4)Keith K.
Have been here multiple times. We really appreciate the nice atmosphere, friendly service, good food and the gluten free menu!
(5)Shannon H.
Host staff not very friendly. Other then that nice place. Great food and wait staff. Very attentive. I will be back.
(4)Carmen R.
Service was fantastic, food was delicious, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting.
(5)Amy W.
We stopped here on a whim after a race on the eisenbahn trail. The food was good, as well as the service. We had the hefeweizen style beer which was good, but a little too hoppy for my liking. I enjoyed the quiet atmosphere. I've never been anywhere else in west bend to compare, but this seems like a nice place for lunch with good local brew on hand. We would return again if we were in the area.
(4)Dru Z.
Great place to eat and drink. The service is always fast and the beer and food is great.
(4)Aaron F.
I was in the area and decided to give this place a shot for dinner. I can say I was honestly surprised by the quality of the entrees and the prices were very reasonable. I tried a fillet Mignon which came with a healthy portion of fresh vegetables and a potato. All of it was very good. We also tried their homemade butternut squash soup which was incredible. Since they brew their own beer I had to try a flight of them and out of the 7 beers I tried I most were average with the exception of 2 of them that stood out. Restaurant staff was very accommodating for our group of 8. If I'm ever in the area again I'd definitely consider Riverside Brewery as my first option.
(4)MaryLu C.
Went with a group. Almost everyone ordered steak and ribs and had a great experience. I ordered the fish fry and from other reviews. Do not order fish here. Ordered fish for dinner, it was not raw, but it did not taste right. The server saw I ate only a few bites and asked me if I wanted to boxed it. I said it was not right. She did not offer to order me something else. Another irk was that only certain entrees got a roll. Was was still hungry and there was nothing to snack on.
(2)Brian N.
Started with their beer sampler of 9 beers they were all fairly good but it is a preference thing with beers. Ended up ordering a pint of the English Old Ale and then the IPA. Ordered the Cuban sandwich and the homemade chips, both were good. Only minor, personal irk, issue was the bread the Cuban was served on wasn't pressed (even if it a hoagie roll; press it).
(3)Katie K.
I used to enjoy this place, but lately I've had nothing but bad experiences. Most recently: Ordered fish for dinner, and got poked in the mouth by a bone. Informed server who replied: "Oh ... well, it's a fish thing." then walks away. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Not once did she apologize, or ask if there was something else that could replace the food. She just walked away. When she came back to collect the plates, she asked if we would like the rest of the fish boxed up - even with the used napkin on the plate (a clear indicator the answer is no) - my response "No." Her response: "The bone did ya in, huh?" ARE YOU KIDDING ME? She continues: "Unfortunately we do not have control over the fish, as we do not de-bone them here, so ...yeah." I understand that it may have been out of her/the restaurant's control - but she had control over how she handled the situation, and she failed miserably. I wasn't expecting her to comp much of anything, but at least apologize. She did nothing, nothing at all. My response to her tip for the evening: "Oh...well, it's an economy thing." Your money is best spent elsewhere where your experience matters to the restaurant.

Excellent food, great atmosphere and good beer!
(4)Bill J.
I was with a group of friends and I would have to say that the only thing that was good about this place were the drinks. They have awesome beer for sure! My friends ribs were as cold as my other friends salad. My steak and lobster was like this; lobster was over done and the steak tasted like liver. I was told that I will have to give it another try. I will but it won't be for the food.
(2)WiByrd R.
They have mussles! and decent steaks. Most of the staff is really nice.
(4)Chris M.
I'm not giving 5stars easy! But tonight excellent food, good Octoberfest brew and attentative individual service is truly worth a very good review.
(5)Mary M.
I have eaten here twice. Once for lunch and had the luncheon special,a prime rib sandwich and again last Friday for the fish fry. Both times the food was excellent! I can not say one bad thing about this place. Great beer, food, atmosphere, wait staff and friendly customers .For goodness sakes My husband even liked the paper napkins!
(5)Chris P.
With E. Wisconsin recently added to my territory, I've been trying the various brewery/restaurants all around. Yelp had me trying to decide between Brazen Head Pub and Riverside. Sitting in front of the former, I didn't think I'd really fit in at their bar tapping away at this iPad, entering my sales calls for the day, so I ended up at Riverside despite its lesser reviews. I'm glad I did. I love a great amber ale, and theirs was one of the more enjoyable of those I've had recently. The menu had many items, mostly somewhat ordinary-sounding. Not wanting a burger OR a salad, both of which sounded fine, I tried to ride down the middle of the road of health consciousness and ordered the buffalo chicken wrap ("please be generous with the sauce"). I love it when I order a wrap and get a nice big, really soft tortilla, it's such a great surprise. The chicken was juicy, the romaine was crisp. It was awesome. The place was really nice too, warmly cozy room and friendly folks.
(4)Katie K.
I love the Riverside Brewery! If you like trying micro brews than order the beer sampler. Their Irish Stout and Scottish Stout are amazing. One has a carmel undertone and the other a coffee undertone. Their garlic mashed potatoes are excellent as are the fried mushrooms. I haven't had a bad meal yet. Love the atmosphere...the small patio out back has a view of the river. So cute.
(5)Perry G.
This was my first visit to Riverside Brewery and Restaurant although it is a short walk from my house. First of all, the service was great. Our waiter, Brad, was excellent and our food arrived quickly. The environment was fine for our three year old, they give wikkisticks and goldfish crackers, instead of the three crayons that most restaurants give younger patrons. My fiance had a Riverside Amber Ale ($3.50), he said it was good. I ordered a Honey Ale ($3.50 )took a sip and passed it on (not a regular beer drinker but just wanted to try the microbrew.) It had more chops than another popular honey ale that I've tried. We started with crab cakes, they were good- hot and more crab than cake, our three year old loved them. I had a half rack of ribs, asparagus, and brew chips. The ribs were yummy, I picked up a piece and it fell apart as I lifted it. I ordered the Maple Bourbon sauce which was too sweet for my taste. I ordered more sauce (Jack Daniels-still not tangy enough for me, I will try another sauce option next time.) My fiance ordered a prime rib panini, it was tender and delicious! We took our dessert to go- chocolate cake was so -so...mousse layer was a little grainy, carrot cake was an interpretation that was moist, very light on spices and carroty-ness. Great for people who don't like carrot cake, not so great for carrot cake lovers (our camp.) Overall a very good experience, we will definitely return and experience the patio seating.
(3)Jennifer L.
Had the seafood sampler appetizer. Calamari was fried to perfection and the maranara sauce was just the right blend of spices. Tiger prawns were fresh and the crab cakes were melt in your mouth awesome! The service was also fantastic.
(5)Trixy W.
I was a little hesitant after reading some of the reviews about the food. But I took a change anyway, and so glad I did. This place in surrounded by cute little shops in the neat little area of downtown West Bend. They had seating that overlooked the river, my fiance and I both were VERY pleased with our meals...we ordered lunch and wasn't able to taste or sample the beer before going back to work. I would recommend for the food - don't be shy! I ordered a veggie wrap and had grilled chicken added... Fiance ordered prime rib sandwich... both were great!
